UPDATED: M&T Bank Fire Prompts Temporary Closure

The Severna Park branch was closed Monday due to a two-alarm fire at the location on Sunday.

UPDATED (noon)—The damage estimate to Sunday's two-alarm fire at M&T Bank in Severna Park is $1 million, said Chief Michael Cox of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

A brought 54 firefighters to the in Severna Park early Sunday evening. The fire was contained quickly and is currently under investigation, said James C. Falletta, M&T Bank administrative vice president.

On Monday, M&T bank officials stood outside in the M&T Bank parking lot while engineers prepared to inspect the building for structural damage.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and under investigation, Falletta said.

"It's a fluke," he said of the fire.
