Car Break-Ins Reported in Shipley's Choice

Police ask residents to lock their cars to avoid becoming a victim of theft.

Owners of two unlocked cars parked in driveways in the 8300 block of Vineland Court in Shipley's Choice were the the victims of theft overnight on Sunday.

According to Justin Mulcahy, spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Police Department, the incidents were reported to police at about 6:30 a.m. Monday.

In one case, an iPod nano was taken and in another, some change, and compact discs were taken, said Mulcahy, adding that theft from automobiles continues to be a problem countywide and many cases involve vehicles that were left unsecured.

As a reminder to residents, police ask that residents lock all vehicles, place items out of sight—preferably locked in a truck or removed from the vehicle—and park in well-lit areas. Unlocked vehicles become an easy target to opportunistic criminals, said Mulcahy.
