New Salon Opens in Robinson Crossing Shopping Center

If you're having a bad hair day, or simply want a new style or color, there are quite a few choices in Severna Park—and the more the merrier for customers looking for a new hairdo. The newest on the scene is the Frederick David Salon, owned by two friends and former co-workers, located at 474 Ritchie Highway next to in the Robinson Crossing Shopping Center.

The sign at the reception desk sums up the new partnership between owners Tiffany Sheya and Geri Koch: "All Because Two Girls Became Friends." The owners were busy styling hair on Tuesday and excited to be partners finally, in an area that they've worked in for many years and have a solid following of clients.

"It is super exciting," Sheya said. "We've wanted this for a long time and it is a dream come true to be able to do this together."

A ribbon-cutting hosted by the was held on Saturday with many friends, family and clients attending to celebrate the grand opening.

Client Mary Brighthaupt of Severna Park was getting a few highlights done by Koch and when talking about the two women opening a business, she said, "I'm in favor of girl power."

Jessica Muir of Pasadena was having some foils done by Sheya, who has been doing her hair for years and was referred by a friend.

"I've been coming [to Sheya] for years and she's now here permanently and so am I," she said.

The salon has five stylists, all private contractors, and two on shampoo duty. The hours vary since the salon operates on appointments only but Koch said generally they are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the week and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
