Fleet Feet Sports Sponsors ‘Ta-Tas 5K’

The free race will be held Nov. 2 and women are encouraged to decorate sports bras for the run.

If you happen to see a bunch of men chasing women in sports bras around Severna Park on Nov. 2—don’t be alarmed. They are most likely participating in Fleet Feet Sports “Run for the Ta-Tas” 5K Fun Run/Walk.

Severna Park’s newest running store opened Oct. 4, and is hosting a weekend long celebration of the opening on Nov. 1-3, the celebration includes a run to benefit breast cancer awareness.

“Our 'Run for the Ta-Tas' is totally unique and fun,” said Fleet Feet manager Pete Goetsch. “It gives us the opportunity to increase the awareness of the importance of early detection with breast cancer.”

The “Run for the Ta-Tas” is not your ordinary 5K. The race will be run chase-style. All women will be released at 9 a.m., and the men will be released at 9:03 a.m. to “chase” after the women. The first person to cross the finish line, male or female, will win $100 cash.

Women are encouraged to decorate sports bras to wear during the run in honor of those diagnosed with breast cancer. Prizes will be available for kids, and the “Best Sports Bra” worn at the run.

“We are really passionate about enhancing our communities with fun events that bring attention to local causes and efforts,” Goetsch said.

This run is completely free and open to all ages. However, during the event, donations will be accepted for MetaVivor Research & Support, Inc., a local organization that supports women and men with metastatic breast cancer in the greater Annapolis area.

After the run, Fleet Feet Sports at 500 D Ritchie Highway, will host a Grand Opening Customer Appreciation Expo with food, massages, raffle prizes, professional stretching, discounts and more.

“We are so excited about inviting the community to our first event in Severna Park, and coming together as one to show our support.” Goetsch said.
