If you read the reports from the meeting last month, sadly, the water quality of the Severn and Magothy continues to deteriorate! Before you settle on the argument that there is nothing you can do about it, we would like to teach you ways that you can make a huge difference right in your own backyard.

Whether you live on the Cattail, Sullivan Cove, Cypress Creek, Deep Creek, or Round Bay, your home is “water privileged” and that means a lot to your lifestyle, not to mention the value of your real estate investment.

Paul Spadero and the Magothy River Association will host a time capsule project for which they have invited all schools, organizations, and businesses to demonstrate and capture on video how each group is taking steps to improve our local waterways.

Your students will be demonstrating what their school is doing.  If your organization or business is involved in such a project, we invite you to come show off your work and add your video to the time capsule project.

Under the guidance of Arlington Echo and the Watershed Stewards, nearly all of the local schools, including our host, Severna Park Middle School have now become or are in process of applying to be Green Schools.

We applaud this initiative, as does Superintendant Kevin Maxwell, who has been working hard to promote green education in our schools.  We will hope you will join us to learn how you can help improve our local waterways.

Here are the details:

  • Saturday, April 30th at Severna Park Middle School – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  (rain or shine)

**You can come by for all or part of it. Instructors will be speaking throughout the event.
