Severn School Clarifies Campus Traffic Procedures

The school is looking to decrease confusion during drop-off and pick-up.

During the morning school commute, the area around Severn School can get very congested with cars and people.

Recently, Severna Park residents commented that the intersection near the school, at Evergreen and Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, is one of the most difficult to navigate around town.

In an effort to increase safety and eliminate confusion, Severn School clarified some of its student drop-off and pick-up procedures.

Here are details on traffic flow at Severn School during arrival and departure times:

  • Water Street is one-way traffic (west to east) from Maple Avenue to Holly Avenue from 7 to 8:30 a.m. and again from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Please enter campus at the Maple Avenue entrance for all pickups, including those after athletic events.
  • Please do not block Maple Avenue by creating two lanes turning into Water Street as you drop-off or pick-up your passenger(s). Safety, patience, and courtesy are required as one maneuvers around our crowded campus roadways.
  • Please note the new morning drop-off stop sign in front of the sidewalk entrance to Creeden Hall, instituted this year to protect our students as they exit cars to make their way into Creeden.
  • Maple Avenue is two-way at all times. Please use all available Severn parking spaces. Do not block anyone’s drive or vehicle or, of course, emergency lanes and entrances. No double-parking, especially on Maple Avenue. Please refrain from parking in front of Severn’s sign at the corner of Maple and Evergreen.
