Arnold Woman Dead After Truck Flips in Two-Vehicle Crash

Police say speed and aggressive driving could have contributed to the death in the crash that shut down part of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Severna Park for two hours on Tuesday.

An Arnold woman died after being ejected from her pickup truck following a two-vehicle crash on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, near Lower Magothy Beach Road in Severna Park on Tuesday morning, according to police.

The accident happened just before 8:30 a.m. when Sherry Lynn Hopkins, 52, of Arnold, driving a Chevrolet S10 pickup truck traveling northbound on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, suddenly lost control and crossed the double yellow line into oncoming traffic, according to a press release. She collided with a Ford F350 pickup truck, driven by Jimmy L. Pope, 41, of Pasadena, who was not injured.

According to police, witnesses reported that Hopkins was passing vehicles on the right shoulder of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and abruptly came back into the lane of travel when her truck was struck on the passenger side door by Pope's vehicle, then continued into a ditch, just past Lower Magothy Beach Road where Hopkins was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
