Community Center To Unveil New Fitness Center

Discover Fitness will take place Thursday at the Severna Park Community Center.

The Severna Park Community Center (SPCC) is unveiling its new and improved fitness center Thursday night during an event called Discover Fitness.

Beginning at 6 p.m., the community center will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially mark the opening of its new fitness center, which features an elliptical machine, spinning bikes and a new exercise machine for people in wheelchairs.

The new fitness center launched a few weeks ago, but this will be its official grand opening.

“We will be unveiling brand new, state-of-the-art equipment,” said Sarah Prager, the SPCC’s Director of Marketing and Communications.

To celebrate the opening of the fitness center, the SPCC will be offering a new deal for fitness access. For $15.99 community members can purchase a monthly unlimited visit pass. For Thursday’s opening, the first five people who arrive will receive a free pass, according to Prager.

Along with the ribbon cutting, the SPCC will also host Discover Fitness from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Discover Fitness is free and interactive event designed to build knowledge and skill on how to safely and effectively exercise.

“The whole center is really going to be alive with these different community experts working hands on with anyone who wants to walk around and get advice,” Prager said.
