ReplyRules are rules. Laws are laws. Even in Severna Park, people. The kids were wrong. The parents are ignorant to think their sons are exceptions to the rules (laws). This teflon attitude is a huge issue in our community and the fact that there has been minimal press coverage just accentuates and perpetuates the pervasive and incorrect belief that nothing bad ever happens in Severna Park.
Underage drinking is against the law. Attending a party where it is going on is against school policy (as it should be). Period. In Severna Park, in Pasadena, in Annapolis. If the coach used the authority he has been given to cut certain kids from his team, he has every right to do so and may know more than we do.
Life is about choices and repercussions for those choices. Get your heads out of the sand, parents. Severna Park athletes are not above the law or the rules. These kids made a choice. Now they (and their parents) need to face the consequences, like them or not.

ReplySo true, John....what a cluster- **** this will be. We didn't need a(nother) Starbucks on top off all the others and certainly can drive 5 minutes north to the other Chik-Fil-A. Lord save us from the politicians that look the other way and allow this to clog up our already congested intersections. Prediction? Increase in accidents for the sake of over-salted fried chicken meals.

Saw this one after they transported the injured. The blue truck was front-end totaled and a white Expedition was in the intersection...couldn't tell what happened but that damage had to be due to excessive speed coming down toward SP at the light. Horrendous. And yesterday I happened upon a red car flipped on its hood in another bad accident at Veteran's and New Cut. BE CAREFUL people!

ReplyCan you say traffic nightmare??! That area/corner/intersection is already a boondoggle. And where is the parking going to be? There were like 6 spaces when it was a KFC. Has anyone ever tried to pull in to the one on Quarterfield to park at lunchtime (or just about any time)? Jumpers Hole Rd at Rt. 2 has become a version of bumper cars...all for oversalted chicken and sugar-filled tea? I don't get it.

The AACPS rules do not say "if you are at a party with underage drinking but you are not drinking you get a free pass..." Look it up. The rules are there for a reason. Your so-called "leaders" followed their under-age drinking friends to an inappropriate party. THEY GOT CAUGHT. If they are the "leaders" you want YOUR kids to follow, well I feel sorry for you. P.S. Have no idea what the Bingo snipe was about. Apparently you and SP Mom tried to hurt my itty bitty feelings. Nice try.
