ReplyI'm for 1 year minimum mandatory sentences for any government official found guilty of even the lowest level crime...then let bidding go up from there.
You can get 30 days for stealing a candy bar from 7-11.

ReplyI'm a bit lost on this. Apparently it's up to some kind of vote whether or not he stays. Why can't we have a law that states if any elected official is found guilty of committing a crime that's related to their office/duties they are automatically relieved of that position and any further compensation including pension or any other benefits.

Maybe not served in Italian restaurants but certainly meatballs are made in Italian homes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meatball
My grandparents were off the boat and my grandmother never even learned to speak English (she didn't want to come here) and always made fantastic meatballs. The difference is Italian meatballs are typically huge (often eaten as a main course) and consist of a mixture of ground beef, pork and veal.
Something else you'll never see at a restaurant here is polenta - which is fantastic.

ReplyFor every time went to the Italian Market we went to Mama Roma's 6 times. Consistently great food make by the owners and "Mama" at the register is fantastic!
I'm actually glad to see them closed on Mondays and they had to have been putting in 100 hour weeks.

ReplyMama Roma's, a location 3X's as large as they needed and the retail aspect of it all combined killed them. I never really saw anyone shopping in their "grocery" area and to me, their deli area was never properly laid out, maintained or staffed.
There's a psychology that goes with it. When customers don't see an employee in the deli area then it looks like a place not to buy anything. Of course, it's a Catch-22 since they never put anyone in the deli area because there were no customers there - then begins the downhill spiral.

ReplyMy family is a fan. I especially love the self serve concept with big cups so I can try a few different flavors and it allows me to keep my costs reasonable by not over-doing it.
I hope these places last.

Keeping his pension because he resigned is a bit like telling a bank robber he can keep the money as long as he retires from robbing banks.
