Breakfast Shoppe Named WBAL-TV 'Local Leader'

The local restaurant recently raised $6,366 for an Elkridge girl who was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumor.

The Breakfast Shoppe in Severna Park was recently recognized as an outstanding member of the community by WBAL-TV. The local restaurant was named this month's "Local Leader," which is a recognition WBAL-TV gives to those who make a difference in the community. The Breakfast Shoppe spent the later-part of 2012 raising funds for Ava Conklin, an Elkridge girl who was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumor. The fundraiser featured a monster sandwich and those who attempted to eat the sandwich made donations to Ava. In February, The Breakfast Shoppe donated $6,366 to Ava on a day the restaurant declared "Ava Conklin Day." The local restaurant raised funds for an Elkridge girl who was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumor.

The Breakfast Shoppe celebrated "Ava Conklin Day" on Saturday, which honored an Elkridge girl who has been at the center of their recent fundraising efforts. The event featured cake, TV interviews and a check for the family. In October, the Breakfast Shoppe teamed up with WBAL-TV meteorologist Tony Pann to create a monster sandwich—the Category 3 Tony Chicken and Waffle 'PANN'wich. Those who attempted to eat the sandwich made donations to Ava, who was recently diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumor. Breakfast Shoppe Hosting ‘Ava Conklin Day’

The Breakfast Shoppe will host "Ava Conklin Day" on Feb. 9 to honor the Elkridge girl who has been at the center of their recent fundraising. In October, the Breakfast Shoppe teamed up with up with WBAL-TV meteorologist Tony Pann to create a monster sandwich—the Category 3 Tony Chicken and Waffle 'PANN'wich. Those who attempted to eat the sandwich made donations to Ava, who was recently diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumor. Breakfast Shoppe Owner Cooks Up Purple Treats

Kyle Algaze cooked some Ravens-centric food on WBAL-TV Saturday morning.

Breakfast Shoppe owner Kyle Algaze cooked up some Baltimore Ravens dishes on WBAL-TV Saturday morning. Algaze made his Black, Blue and Purple Belgian Waffles on the air. The waffles feature black, red and blue berries and are perfect for a Ravens football game-day morning. Algaze also showed a simpler dish to make—a fruit and yogurt parfait. This dish featured vanilla yogurt, granola and fruit. While on the air, Algaze also mentioned The Breakfast Shoppe’s giant sandwich fundraiser for an Elkridge girl who is recovering from a brain tumor.
