That groundhog was a liar. Wintry weather is expected in the Severna Park area on Monday morning with as much as 2-4 inches of snow possible, according to forecasts. Snow was expected to roll in sometime around 4:30 a.m. Monday and continue through much of the day. The State Highway Administration said it deployed 2,700 crews to treat and clear roadways Monday morning. Do you have any snow photos to share? Forecasters are calling for a wintry mix in Anne Arundel County that could include snow on Saturday morning.
Anne Arundel County — and much of the region — could be in for another dose of winter weather this weekend, depending on how an approaching storm shapes up. The National Weather Service warns that a system moving in from the southeast "will likely impact portions of the Mid-Atlantic Saturday and Saturday night." "At this stage, rain or snow is possible depending on the storm track," it adds. The latest forecast for the area calls for light snow starting Saturday morning, then switching over to just rain by early afternoon. Snow may slip back into the picture Saturday evening as temperatures drop again. Temperatures will be right near the freezing mark, so there snow and rain totals will vary depending on the location. The snow was a little late for a white Christmas and didn't last very long, but some areas of Severna Park saw some flakes Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Anne Arundel County on Wednesday as snow turned to hail and rain. According to WBAL, numerous accidents were reported throughout the day in Maryland, and the roads will continue to be icy into the evening hours.
