'Not a Reckless Daredevil': Stuntman describes life

Severna Park High School graduate worked in China, now hopes for Hollywood.

Sword-fighting? Jumping off of buildings? Being set on fire? It's all in a day's work for this local stuntman. Over the last eight months, 24-year-old Rich Thompson, a Severna Park High School graduate, has been living and working in Dalian, China as a stuntman/actor in a theme park's live-action stunt show. "They called me a 'ground-pounder,'" Thompson said.  "I was the guy that did all the hand-to-hand fighting. I'm the guy that got tossed onto the concrete and then had to get back up again." In addition to physical combat, Thompson performed all different kinds of daring feats that both shocked and delighted his audience. "I did high-falls and zip-lines," Thompson said.
