After the recent closing of a local business, area business owners want to remind the community why it’s important to shop local.
After hearing the news that BJ’s Blings and Things would be closing its doors for good, one local business owner thought it would be a good opportunity to remind the community of the importance of shopping local. Dawn Wilson, an owner of Side Street Framers in Severna Park, said she had no idea Blings and Things was closing and the news touched her personally. “It is so important for our local residents to support our small locally owned business, or we may see more have to close,” Wilson said. “I don't think people always realize that where they chose to spend their money makes such a huge difference for these local businesses.” Wilson, who owns Side Street Framers with her mom, said she and Franklin’s Toys owner Jeff Franklin co-chair …

Patch will be featuring unique gifts found in Severna Park stores to help you be a standout shopper this season. Here's the second pick of the season.
Holiday-inspired lacrosse shorts were the first pick featured on Dec. 3 and found at Behind the Back in the Severna Park Village Shopping Center. The second find is one of piano music, performed by local musician and long- time Severna Park resident Jeff Harding. His recordings titled, I'm Home for Christmas, and the latest release, A Christmas Song, can be found at Side Street Framers in Park Plaza, B.J.'s Blings & Things consignment shop, Cafe Bretton and Gary's Gardens. A Christmas Song is available at Pat's Hallmark in Park Plaza as well. "It was so much fun, I decided to do A Christmas Song," Harding wrote in an email.
