A spokeswoman says computers, purses and a wallet were taken from the Severna Park home while Bongino and his family slept.
The Severna Park home of Dan Bongino, the former Secret Service agent who ran for U.S. Senate in 2012, was broken into Wednesday night and many valuable items were taken. Someone broke into the home, disarmed the house alarm system and took computers, purses, wallets and “anything valuable,” according to Bongino’s spokeswoman Karla Graham. She added that the break-in occurred while Bongino, his wife and children were sleeping. “We don’t know what is going on or who would have done this,” Graham said. “We are hoping by posting things that someone might hear something or see something.” Police spokesman Justin Mulcahy confirmed that Bongino's home was broken into Wednesday night. Anne Arundel County police arrested and charged a Severna Park man after they say he attempted to break into an area home on New Year’s Day. According to online charging documents, Brent Gehring, 20, of the 400 block of Fairtree Drive, was charged with fourth-degree burglary and destruction of property. Police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said police responded to a home in the 200 block of Berrywood Drive at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday after a homeowner said he came home to find someone in the back of his house. “He returned home and found an individual who may have been intoxicated in the rear of the house causing damage,” Mulcahy said. Police have charged a Severn Park man who they said ransacked and stole several items from a home on Cypress Road. Matthew Koehn, 29, of the 700 block of Stinchcomb Road in Severna Park was charged with first- third- and fourth-degree burglary, felony theft, and misdemeanor destruction of property, according police spokesman Justin Mulcahy. Mulcahy said police responded to a home in the 700 block of Cypress Road at 9:38 a.m. on Wednesday for a report of a burglary. A family member received information that the home of their deceased relative had been burglarized, the police spokesman said. After a string of car break-ins and a home burglary in September are you locking your windows and cars?
At the end of September, several cars were broken into in the Big Vanilla Arnold parking lot and a Severna Park home was burglarized. After the string of car break-ins, Anne Arundel County police urged residents to lock their cars and reminded them not to leave valuables in their vehicles. Police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said there were four reported cases of vehicle theft the morning of Sept. 21, in which someone damaged and gained access to vehicles in the parking lot and took money and electronics. Furthermore, between Aug. 24-26 seven cars were broken into while they were parked in Severna Park neighborhoods. A home in the Westridge community in Severna Park was broken into on Monday night, according to police. Anne Arundel County police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said officers responded to a reported burglary at a home in the Westridge community at 8:09 p.m. on Monday. Mulcahy said that at this time it is unclear if the home was secured or if there was a forced entry.
