The wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will attend a fundraiser on Tuesday at a Linthicum hotel.
Ann Romney, wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, will attend a political fundraiser on Tuesday evening in Linthicum, according to The Washington Post. The event will be held at the BWI Airport Marriott on Nursery Road and is hosted by former Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. and his wife, Kendel. The Maryland Gazette reports that for $1,000 donors can meet the candidate's wife, for $2,500 donors can take a picture with her and a $15,000 donation will get donors dinner with Romney. A hat contest in honor of Preakness was a highlight at the Severna Park Republican Women's Club luncheon on Wednesday.
Chartwell Country Club was the scene for the Severna Park Republican Women’s Club “Day at the Races” fashion show and luncheon on Wednesday. Hundreds of guests, many in elaborate Preakness hats, turned out to see trending fashions, bid on silent auction items and sip the signature Black-Eyed Susan drinks to raise money for the club’s programs. Heading up the fashion show committee were Park residents, Maureen Carr-York, Amy Leahy, Liz League, Stella Angelucci, Anne Rutherford and Nancy Carlisle. Upon arrival, guests had their photographs taken in the “winners circle” outside of the club with Atticus, the thoroughbred descendent of 1953 Preakness winner Native Dancer, born and bred in Maryland. You may not have thought it possible, but there are indeed elephants in Severna Park. Although not the kind you would imagine. Virtually every Thursday, a Republican Party group known as the Elephant Club meets to discuss all the current political happenings in Anne Arundel County as well as in Maryland and in the rest of the nation. Though this herd is not nearly as thunderous as the stampedes seen regularly on the television show Animal Planet, they do become passionately involved in what they call "civilized discussions"—when members are confronted with the regularly scheduled guest speakers whose viewpoints may not be completely in line with the Republican Party's ideals.
