Severna Park Public School Pre-K Programs
Parents interested in enrolling their children can do so starting May 1.
There are two public schools in Severna Park that offer a pre-K program: There are 41 pre-K programs in Anne Arundel County, according to a release from Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS). “Public prekindergarten programs in Maryland were established to improve the school readiness of children who are economically disadvantaged, or homeless,” according to the release. “If seats remain, schools may enroll students with other readiness needs." In order to attend pre-K, children must be 4 years old by Sept. 1. Parents with children who qualify for the program can register beginning on May 1 for the 2012-2013 school year. The 2 programs offered differ. The program at Oak Hill is a more structured program with a certified pre-K teacher and an aide. Schools across the county differ slightly, but it is generally a morning or afternoon program and could be anywhere from 2-5 days.
