Severna Park Talent in "Once Upon A Mattress"

The Children's Theatre of Annapolis presents this musical treat this weekend.

The current production of "Once Upon a Mattress" by the Children’s Theatre of Annapolis (CTA) opened last weekend and is clearly a hit that ranks among CTA’s best shows ever.  It belongs at the top of all entertainment calendars for this weekend.  Talented Severna Park players contribute to the success of this upbeat show that is a fractured version of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Princess and the Pea fairy tale, here spinning the story of a mythical kingdom where none can wed until Prince Dauntless finds his princess bride – a task that his over-protective mother Queen Aggravain has made nearly impossible by devising a series of stringent tests to assess the nobility of potential royal brides. "Once Upon a Mattress" by CTA This Weekend

Severna Park's Justin Binnix has the role of the minstrel, Cassidy Hamilton is Lady Larken.

A small theater along Bay Head Road magically becomes a palace complete with an evil queen, a tortured prince, and a chorus of silly lords and ladies as the Children's Theatre of Annapolis presents "Once Upon a Mattress" beginning this weekend. The musical comedy was first a play written as an adaptation of the fairy tale The Princess and the Pea by Mary Rodgers, daughter of Richard Rodgers, for an adult summer camp. The play was later expanded for the Broadway stage and included the Broadway debut of stage and TV legend Carol Burnett, who founded the role of Princess Winnifred the Woebegone.
