SPHS Students Raising Funds to Plunge
Severna Park High School requires its students to raise more than the minimum to participate in the MSP Polar Bear Plunge.
Severna Park High School (SPHS) students are preparing to take a plunge into the icy cold water of the Chesapeake Bay for the annual Maryland State Police (MSP) Polar Bear Plunge. However, participating SPHS students will be asked to raise more than the required minimum. “Students are required by us to raise a minimum of $100 to participate in the actual plunge,” said SPHS teacher Teri Ann Stahl. “This is greater than the $50 minimum that the organizers have set.” According to Stahl, the school has set a “lofty” goal of 250 plungers.
