M&T Bank Remains Closed After Fire

Employee says M&T Bank will remain in its temporary location for another year.

More than five months after a fire caused an estimated $1 million in damages at the M&T Bank building in Severna Park, employees said the local establishment will remain closed with no plans to open in the near future. The fire broke out on Aug. 5 and the location has been closed ever since. However, M&T did open a temporary location inside Park Plaza while the repairs to the former building were being made. An employee with M&T in Severna Park said the bank had no plans to move out of its temporary location in the next year. Anne Arundel County Fire Department Division Chief Keith Swindle said the cause of the fire remains undetermined and that the investigation has been turned over to the bank’s insurance company. M&T Bank Opens Temporary Location

The Severna Park branch has been closed since Aug. 6 due to a fire.

The Severna Park branch of the M&T Bank will open a temporary location after the building was damaged by a fire on Aug. 5. M&T Bank sustained about $1 million in damages after the fire, an Anne Arundel County spokesman told Patch on Aug. 6. The Capital reported the bank will move from 576 Ritchie Highway to 574 Ritchie Highway adjacent to the Ace Hardware Store. The Capital also reported the safe deposit boxes were undamaged during the fire and will be moved to the new location. M&T Bank customers also can visit the following locations for their banking needs:

UPDATED: M&T Bank Fire Prompts Temporary Closure

The Severna Park branch was closed Monday due to a two-alarm fire at the location on Sunday.

UPDATED (noon)—The damage estimate to Sunday's two-alarm fire at M&T Bank in Severna Park is $1 million, said Chief Michael Cox of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. A two-alarm fire brought 54 firefighters to the M&T bank at 576 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park early Sunday evening. The fire was contained quickly and is currently under investigation, said James C. Falletta, M&T Bank administrative vice president. On Monday, M&T bank officials stood outside in the M&T Bank parking lot while engineers prepared to inspect the building for structural damage.
