Finding a Niche for Women Winemakers
Wine and author event at Fishpaws Marketplace highlights "Women of the Vine."
Author Deborah Brenner had an epiphany three years ago: she wouldn't just write about women winemakers, she'd carve out a niche for their wines in the male-dominated wine marketplace. Now "Women of the Vine" brand wines, representing six award-winning women winemakers of California, can be found on the shelves in 14 states, including Maryland. The wine label for the white and red varietals mimics the cover of her book by the same name. Brenner debuted both to an appreciative local audience on Friday [Nov. 12] as part of the weekly wine tastings at Fishpaws Marketplace on Ritchie Highway in Arnold.
