Top 5: Chick-fil-A Progress, School Emergency Drills

This week Patch provided an update on the old KFC on Ritchie Highway and reported on an award-winning local eye doctor.

SPHS to Undergo Emergency Drill Tuesday Students at Severna Park High School executed an emergency drill on Tuesday that dealt with an armed and dangerous intruder in the building. However, the drill is was unrelated to the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School last week. 2. KFC Update: Chick-fil-A Expanding Leelyn Drive Chick-fil-A has signed the lease to take over the old KFC on Ritchie Highway and now has to improve the condition of Leelyn Drive. Local Doctor Named Young Optometrist of the Year

Dr. Kevin Johnson of Peepers in Severna Park received the award for his leadership and volunteer work.

From the moment Dr. Kevin Johnson put on his first eyeglasses as a kid he knew he wanted to be an optometrist. “I was honestly inspired by my first eye exam as a child,” Johnson said. “I put the glasses on and was like ‘oh my gosh I can see the leaves instead of a green blur.’ I thought it was fun you could go to the eye doctor and see immediate results.” That inspiration led Johnson to a career in eye care and the Maryland Optometric Association (MOA) recently named Johnson, who is an eye doctor at Peepers of Severna Park, Young Optometrist of the Year. Johnson has been at Peepers for four years and the MOA recognized him for his leadership and volunteer work. “I was flattered,” Johnson said. “I think when you get an award like this …

Thanks for posting this! My mom is a nurse for a ophthalmologist, and she loves it. I've been trying to find a ophthalmologist in Tuscon for a while, and my mom recommended I check out www.retinacenterspc.com.
