Spring has arrived with a pop in Severna Park—a pop of color and warm weather. Flowers are in bloom, runners are out on the B&A Trail and area residents are looking for places to dine outdoors. If you're looking to get out and enjoy this weather, consider heading to The Big Bean and enjoy a smoothie on the back patio. Or grab lunch at Brian Boru and dine outside. Also don't forget, Diehl's Produce opened on March 28 and has flowers ready for purchase so you can spruce up your garden. OK confession time: I do not like summer. I know it surprises a lot of people, but I really don't like hot weather or much of anything related to summer. So I was very excited when I started to see signs around Severna Park that was fall near. Autumn officially began on Sept. 22, and I saw pumpkins on display at Diehl's Produce. Area Nurseries Blooming With Color

Severna Park nurseries and garden centers are stocked with flowers and plants for the spring planting season.

The weather and pollen count tells us it's time to find your gardening gloves and get to work in the yard. To help you create a captivating garden, there's plenty of choices when buying flowers, shrubs, garden stones, mulch, tools and more. Homestead Gardens, Gary's Gardens, Diehl's Produce and Meadows Farms are all Severna Park locally owned busineses are all looking bright and cheerful with plenty of landscaping materials for the season.

Christmas Tree Sales in Severna Park

North and south and in the center of town, there are many options when looking to buy a tree. What kind of tree will you buy this year? Answer the Patch poll.

You don't have to go far to find the perfect Christmas tree, unless you are chopping one down on a farm. There are stands and nurseries sprinkled throughout Severna Park offering a full selection of trees and other items for holiday decorating. Take a look:  Big Tree, located on a small strip of land next to Ritchie Highway northbound, Big Tree is owned by William Streams of Severna Park who has operated in this area for decades. Big Tree has two varieties of trees, among others, that are unique to the area. A Concolor fir, also known as a white fir, is soft needled and light blue in color. This tree resembles a white pine, however, the needles are a bit stronger, making it a good pick for those who hang heavier ornaments, Streams said. …

Photos of the Day: Diehl's Produce

Local Christmas tree stands and garden centers are ready to help you deck the halls.

Black Friday was full of greenery as Diehl's Produce unloaded a tractor trailer and box truck full of spruce, fir and pine Christmas trees while the staff was busy cutting roping and setting up the display. Coming next week will be details from all area garden centers and Christmas tree stands on pricing, decorations and types of trees available. In Severna Park, there is Gary's Gardens, Homestead Gardens, and Meadow Farms Nurseries, along with tree stands on Ritchie Highway and also at the Earleigh Heights Fire Station (not run by the fire station).
