Little Rock Nine Member Speaks at Severna Park Church

Civil rights hero Ernest Green was the guest speaker at Wayman Good Hope A.M.E. Church on Sunday.

While much of the country focused on the conflict, hatred and fear that plagued the Civil Rights Movement, Alberta Louise Seymour embraced a simple yet powerful notion: "Still the struggle goes on and many goals have been attained, to God we give thanks for in his eyes we are all the same."  Seymour wrote that verse in a poem about slavery, hope and equality. She said issues surrounding racism inspired her to start writing poems roughly 50 years ago. Around that time, Ernest Green became one of the Little Rock Nine when he and eight of his schoolmates were the first black students to attend Central High School in their small Arkansas town.
