Bid for Kids Auction Part of Chesapeake Academy's 30th Anniversary Celebration

Pop online and bid on designer items, tickets to a Broadway musical and more to benefit the Chesapeake Academy. Silent and live auctions to follow on Saturday.

The folks at the Chesapeake Academy are pulling out all the stops in honor of their 30 year anniversary. Most parents are used to fundraisers that offer cookies, pizza or wrapping paper but that's just not the way this institution works. Think more along the lines of designer handbags, sporting event tickets, fine dining, pampered pets, original artwork and even luxurious vacations. No need to worry about filling out the usual order forms though, as these items (along with so many more) are available through Chesapeake Academy's online auction. The online portion of this 30th Anniversary celebration acts as a proverbial red carpet, leading up to a Saturday soiree of silent and live auctions. Be sure to take plenty of time to browse but …

Severna Park Native Starts Theatre Company

Standing O Productions opens fourth season with national premier of a critically acclaimed play "After the Dance."

Severna Park native son Ron Giddings celebrated his 30th birthday in mid-January at the home of the theater he founded out of a desire to give back to his community. Now Giddings is starting his fourth year as artistic director of Standing O Productions with its mission to be “a risk-taking theatre company dedicated to presenting lesser-known masterpieces paired with area premieres to engage the community and inspire discussion” on course.    This mission has consistently been fulfilled in three successive seasons, while entertaining a growing number of appreciative fans. Giddings will put Severna Park and Arnold on the national cultural map at the start of Standing O’s 2011-2012 season.  This fourth season will open with the United States…
