Severna Park students will play live along with 11 other high school bands this Saturday.
The 15th annual Anne Arundel County Battle of the Bands competition is set to kick off Saturday night at Maryland Hall. The Capital Gazette recently provided profiles on each of the 12 bands performing, of which 11 will be in competition for the best of show. The winner of the competition will get studio time to record one of their songs professionally in Studio A of Wright Way Studios. Proceeds from the event going to the music departments of the top four bands. Severna Park High School student-led band Floozie will be among the bands in competition for the top spot. There was a lot riding on 15-minute performances by high school bands as part of the 14th annual Anne Arundel County Battle of the Bands.
Nancy Almgren, founder and organizer of the Anne Arundel County Battle of the Bands, said she loves to see the students of all different musical genres and schools come together every year. "Where else are you going to get kids from every part of the county?" Almgren asked Saturday night during the 14th annual event at Maryland Hall. This year's competition featured students from public and private schools, including Strobe Otters from Annapolis High School, August of One from The Key School and Plan C from Indian Creek High School. A dozen bands from high schools throughout the county competed for the chance to win studio time and exposure.
Hundreds of teens and parents packed Maryland Hall Saturday night to rock out and cheer on their favorite bands in the13th annual Anne Arundel County High School Battle of the Bands. Hosted by Danny Mays, marketing manager of the event and a bassist for Gold Mind Squad, the competition showcased 12 bands selected from schools across the county. The Maryland State Education Association served as a major sponsor for the event. For a couple of groups, including Clubbing Seals from Glen Burnie High School, it was their first performance ever. Severna Park High School's Pandomonia plans to rock the crowd this Saturday at Maryland Hall.
Since 1999, Anne Arundel County High School bands have been rocking out and competing for the chance to perform in front of music industry professionals during the annual Battle of the Bands, held at Maryland Hall in Annapolis. This year, the colorful members of Severna Park High School’s Pandomonia, have every intention of wowing the judges and the audience alike. The Pandomonia five-some are not only band mates and classmates, but above all, they are self-proclaimed "best buds." Original Pandomonia members Devin McCord, Shane McCord and Mikey Powers began playing music together in seventh grade.
