A National Blue Ribbon School and also a Maryland Green School, St. John the Evangelist School is located at 669More Ritchie Highway and is directly affiliated with the Church of St. John the Evangelist, located next door. A co-ed Catholic School serving grades K through 8, the faculty consists of lay teachers and the Sisters of St. Joseph, dedicated to providing academic excellence in a safe, disciplined environment. A four-year-old preschool program is also offered. The school offers learning differences and enrichment programs, athletics, band, drama and other clubs along with before and after school care. 

 

 

 

 

The school boasts many scholarship and award winners from the student body of more than 400. Typically, 100 percent of the eighth grade graduates are accepted by the high school of their choice. The school is led by Sister Linda Larsen and participates in the Catholic Grant Program, which provides aid to families in need of financial support. You must be a registered parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church to be eligible. Tuition for the 2010-2011 school year is $6,360.

St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church & School is located on the corner of Cypress Creek Rd. and RitchieMore Highway in Severna Park. It is home to a convent, school and rectory. The spacious church holds up to 1,200 parishoners and has a roster of 3,300 parish families. The parish school is a National Blue Ribbon School. The church hosts spiritual and social activities regularly for all ages. The Rev. James Proffitt is pastor of the church.
St John the Evangelist Youth Ministry

St. John the Evangelist Church serves the Greater Severna Park youth with an active middle and high school YouthMore Ministry. Many opportunities exist for area teens to become involved in the church and community while having fun and making new friends. The church offers bowling, bingo, dances, trips, pizza parties and other activities designed for the middle school age group. The high school youth group is open to all teens in grades 9 through 12 and meets almost every Sunday. This group's program also involves a six-week seminar series that brings parents and teens together for discussions, small group talks, videos and more. Confirmation is available for eighth graders.
