Partners in Care Opens New Office

The local nonprofit is holding a ribbon-cutting on Feb. 16 to thank their community partners for renovating a building for offices.

Partners in Care Maryland, a community nonprofit helping older adults remain independent in their own homes, will hold a “Thank You Party” and ribbon-cutting from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 16 at their new offices, located at 90 B Ritchie Highway in Pasadena. The event will celebrate the businesses that donated time, talent and materials to renovate an empty building to house their offices, according to a news announcement.  

The renovated building is on the centrally-located property in Pasadena (right outside of Severna Park) that is being developed by Hospice of the Chesapeake as a continuum of care campus for the community. Patch wrote about the  in January.

“Their work is the foundation which will help us sustain our program into the future. We want to collaborate with others and utilize our resources as well as possible. The generosity of these community partners coming together to help a nonprofit in these tough economic times makes is possible to continue our mission helping older adults stay in our community. This is a gift beyond price. Thank you to everyone who took a piece of this project,” Huston said in the announcement.

According to the announcement, Hamel Builders placed project manager Gary Witt on the renovation to manage the project and request donations of service and material from subcontractors. The renovation involved 22 trade professionals over an eight-week period.

“Hamel Builders values and supports Partners in Care’s programs to build a safety net for seniors. It was an honor to take the lead on the renovation project and we thank our business partners for contributing their resources to the effort,” Phil Gibbs, CEO and president of the company, said in the news announcement.

In addition to Hamel, companies giving time, services, and materials included: Anderson Fire Protection, Atlantic Coast Carpet, Builder Guru, Built-Up Roofing, Chesapeake Telephone, CHS Services, Clement Hardware, Davenport Insulation, Edison Electric, Heidler Plumbing, Independence Housing Group, J&F Construction, Lundberg Builders, Maryland Mold Masters, Palencia Construction, Potomac Abatement, R.E. Robertson HVAC, Secure Solutions Lock & Key, Suddath Relocation Services, Unit Construction and Von Paris Moving & Storage.

The move enabled the nonprofit’s upscale, resale boutique to expand into the entire space that was formerly shared with the offices at 6 S. Ritchie Highway. The goal is for the boutique to carry more merchandise and raise additional revenue to fund Partners In Care programs, according to the announcement. To learn more, visit partnersincare.org.

Partners in Care operates an innovative time-exchange program in which volunteer members earn credit for helping others, and in exchange, receive help back from the community when they need it. The Ride Partners transportation program and the Repairs With Care handyman program are the group’s major initiatives, along with advocacy for economic well-being, emergency preparedness, socialization programs and the boutique. Participants include more than 2,500 volunteer members at four sites across the state, according to the announcement.
