2012 State of the Magothy River Meeting

The annual meeting, open to the public, will feature speakers who will report on and address the issues facing the Magothy River.

The Magothy River Association (MRA) will hold its 10th annual State of the Magothy River presentation from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. at , CALT Building, Room 100, 101 College Pkwy. in Arnold.

The MRA meeting will feature the annual Magothy River Index as well as presentations on other topics of interest and a variety of displays, according to a press release.

  • 2011 Magothy River Index. Prepared by Dr. Peter Bergstrom, NOAA and MRA. (Produced each year since 2003)
  • Community Science. A presentation by Dick Carey on how community science provides a toolkit for understanding and improving water quality locally and internationally.
  • MRA Government Affairs Committee. A report on comprehensive rezoning and how the MRA works with local government officials will be presented by MRA vice president Russ Stevenson. A variety of displays will be available for attendees to view prior to, and after, the program.  Fundraiser materials including Magothy River maps, My River Speaks books, MRA T-shirts, and oyster shell ornaments will also be available.  

Following the presentations, there will be refreshments and time to visit the displays and chat with watershed residents and the experts, according to the release.

In case of inclement weather, if the college is closed, the program is postponed.  The college does not follow Anne Arundel County Public School's closings. College closings are announced on WNAV radio (1430 AM) and on the AACC website.
