U13 Green Hornets Soccer Appoints New ‘A’ Coach

Scott Langlois will take over as the head coach for the U13 Green Hornets "A" soccer team this year.

Scott Langlois will take over the reigns as the new head coach for the U13 Green Hornets girls soccer “A” team this year. Langlois hopes to prepare the girls for high school play.

While Langlois is not new to the Green Hornets program—he has coached soccer, football and lacrosse in the past—this is his first gig coaching soccer with the Severna Park area organization.

“The U13 is an important age group,” Langlois said. “They are heading into high school and we will be preparing them for that... The ultimate goal for the team is to prepare them for high school and college showcase tournaments.”

Langlois has ten years of experience coaching travel soccer, including a few years with the Maryland Rush. He was also recently named the new head varsity soccer coach for Northeast High School.

The challenges of coaching high scool and club teams differ but Langlois said his experience will help him with both.

“At the club level for soccer you are typically facing much more difficult teams and higher skilled players,” Langlois said. “In high school you play where you live, so the teams are more diverse as far as skill level. I think with all my experience with coaching at the club level will really help me get the girls ready condition wise to go out there and be their best.”

The Green Hornets U13 girls soccer team has recently undergone some changes that may have caused some girls to leave the program. Langlois said he will be working to bring girls back to the team.

“I want to rebuild that age group and hopefully bring back some of the talented soccer players that left Severna Park to seek other teams,” Langlois said. “The age group wasn’t as strong so a lot of good players left to play other places. I want them to see there is a good team here.”

The team will host open tryouts June 10-12 at Kinder Farm Park. Langlois said anyone is welcome to come and tryout for a spot on the “A” “B” or “C” team. For more information visit the Green Hornets website.
