SPHS Falcons Fall to South River 33-28

Four games remaining, with the next at Chesapeake High School next Friday.

Severna Park's football team will likely move out of the top four in the Class 4A East region standings Thursday night after a 33-28 home loss to South River.

The Falcons were hurt by five touchdown passes from South River quarterback Connor Cox.

With the loss, Severna Park fell to 4-2 and will fall behind South River for the important fourth spot in the Class 4A East region.

At the end of the season, the top four teams from each region qualify for the regional playoffs, which start on Nov. 11. When standings are announced next week, Severna Park will likely trail Old Mill, Arundel, South River and North Point in Waldorf for the region's top four.

But the Falcons still have four games remaining, and will travel to Chesapeake High next Friday. Severna Park will finish the regular season against Northeast.
