Orioles' Chris Davis Immortalized with Bobblehead

Fans chose the slugging first basemen instead of four other teammates.

Orioles' fans have bestowed on Chris Davis one of the greatest honors a baseball player can receive—to be turned into a plastic figurine with a head that shakes back and forth.

Davis, who is leading all American League first basemen in votes for July’s All-Star Game, will have his likeness turned in to a bobblehead that will be given to fans as a promotional item during a game against the rival Red Sox at 1:35 p.m., on Sept. 29, according to a news release.

"I just wanted to thank you for selecting me for the At&T Fans Choice Bobblehead. It means a lot that you guys selected me over my buddies," Davis said in a video thanking fans on Major League Baseball’s website.

According to a press release from the team, fans chose Davis, who as of this afternoon had already hit 20 home runs this season, for the honor instead of teammates Wei-Yin Chen, Jason Hammel, Jim Johnson and Nate McLouth.

The contest lasted from March 25 to May 15, and votes could be submitted through mobile voting, through the team's website or Facebook page, according to the news release.
