HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Falcons Start Playoff Run Friday
The Severna Park girls basketball team will host Leonardtown this Friday. The boys team will travel to play Meade.
The Severna Park High basketball teams will begin play in the MPSSAA Class 4A playoffs this Friday.
The girls team grabbed the seventh seed in the east region, and will host Leonardtown. The boys, seeded 10th, will travel to Meade.
Nearly all local public school teams have qualified for the state tournament. Teams from Anne Arundel County will play in the Class 4A East Region, with the exception of Northeast and Annapolis who are Class 3A.

The boys won the Anne Arundel County championship and earned the top seed and first round bye. The Wildcats will play Feb. 28 at home against the winner of South River and Chesapeake.
The girls got a favorable draw when they grabbed the fifth seed, and will host 12th-seeded Great Mills on Friday.
The boys grabbed the fourth seed in the region and a first-round bye. The Patriots' first playoff game will be Feb. 28 at home against the North County and Great Mills winner.
The girls are the eighth seed in the region and will host North County on Friday.
The boys are the seventh seed in the region and will host Severna Park on Friday.
