Five Questions with SPHS Volleyball’s Kara Glynn

Kara Glynn is a senior and a captain on the Severna Park High School varsity volleyball team.

Patch stopped by the Severna Park varsity volleyball practice and spoke with senior Kara Glynn about her volleyball career this season’s expectations and her plans for the future.

Severna Park Patch: What are your goals or expectations for this season?
Kara Glynn: We definitely have a young team this year, but we have a lot of talent on this team. I have a lot of great expectations, so I want to at least win counties this year, and definitely get to states.

Severna Park Patch: What’s one of the key matchups you have this season?
Glynn: Arundel, definitely—I think that’s a big deal for all of us, especially the seniors. This is our last year, and we would love to finally beat them.

Severna Park Patch: What was your favorite volleyball moment or experience at Severna Park?
Glynn:  Freshman year, I was on varsity, but I didn’t play, we won counties that year and we played Arundel. That game was the last time we beat them. That was a really good game.

Severna Park Patch: What advice would you give to an aspiring high school volleyball player?
Glynn: Definitely play volleyball. It’s a very unique sport because it is very team oriented and it’s a lot of communication. It’s not like you’re on a field—you are on a compact area, and you really have to be one with each other, and know how to work with each other.

Severna Park Patch: What are you plans after high school?
Glynn: Right now I think I want to play in college. I have some options, but I am not sure what I will decide yet. I want to study speech pathology. Me and my parents were talking about what I want to do, and I have some neighbors that are speech pathologists, and I have shadowed them. I am also interning at Waugh Chapel Elementary now.
