Baseball, Softball Playoffs Begin Thursday

The Severna Park High School Falcons earned first-round byes in baseball and softball.

The baseball and softball teams each earned a bye in the first round of the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association Class 4A state playoffs. 

Nearly all county teams qualified for the state tournament and have a shot at a championship.

Here’s a look at the draws for each school in the county with seeds in parentheses. All teams will compete in the Class 4A East region except where otherwise noted.

BASEBALL

Old Mill (1) has a first-round bye and will play Monday against the winner of the game between South River and Broadneck.

Arundel (4) earned a first-round bye and will play Monday against the winner of the game between Great Mills and Meade.

Severna Park (3) earned a first-round bye and will play Monday against the winner of the game between Glen Burnie and Leonardtown.

Glen Burnie (6) will host Leonardtown (11) on Friday. The winner will face Severna Park.

North County (7) will host Chesapeake (10) on Friday. The winner will play second-seeded North Point.

South River (8) hosts Broadneck (9) on Friday. The winner will travel to play Old Mill.

Meade (12) will travel to Great Mills on Friday. The winner will play Arundel.

Northeast (5) will host Wild Lake in the Class 3A East region. The winner will face River Hill.

Annapolis (6) will host Centennial (11) in the Class 3A East region. The winner will play Stephen Decatur.

SOFTBALL

Old Mill (7) will host Arundel (10) on Thursday. The winner will play Monday against Broadneck. 

Chesapeake (1) earned a first-round bye and will play Monday against the winner of the game between Great Mills and North County.

Broadneck (2) earned a first-round bye and will play Monday against the winner of the game between Arundel and Old Mill.

Severna Park (3) earned a first-round bye and will host the winner of the game between Leonardtown and North Point on Monday.

Glen Burnie (4) earned a first-round bye and will play Monday against the winner of the game between South River and Meade.

Northeast (4) has a first-round bye in the Class 3A East region and will host the winner of the game between Hammond and J.M. Bennett.

Annapolis (11) plays Thursday at Wilde Lake in the Class 3A East region. The winner will play Mt. Hebron on Monday.
