SP Varsity Football beats Annapolis 14-10

The 2-1 SP Varsity Falcon Football team traveled to the 1-2 Annapolis Panthers home field for action Friday night.  The game was delayed as the Varsity bus got stuck in traffic coming for Severna Park for the game.  But that wasn't enough for the Panthers.

On the opening Offensive series for the Panthers #22Charlie Wells fumbled and the ball was scooped up by #32 Colton White of the Falcons.  This gave the Falcons  great field position.  After a long run by #24 Kieran Jenkins, (forced out at the #1 yard line) the Falcons punched it in and took a very early 1st quarter lead 7-0.

The Panthers responded with a field goal by #31 Pierce Meyer.  Both the Severna Park and Annapolis Field goal kickers missed 2 FG's in the game.

So after the early scoring it was evident that the Defenses from both teams brought their "A" game to this contest.  SP stopped Annapolis series that culminated in missed field goals.  As did Annapolis.  Going into the half it was Falcons 7- Panthers 3.

Annapolis tallied another TD, making the score 10-7 in favor of the Panthers.  But again,  the Falcon Defense stood up.  And forced a 3 and out late in the game.  With about 4:00 minutes remaining in the game, Panthers punted to the Falcons and #12 Taylor Kitzmiller would have to lead this Falcon Offense down the field.  After successive short passes and a few runs,  Kitzmiller hooked up with #34 Kyle Wiliamson on a 30 yard pass into the end zone for the Falcon touch down!  to go ahead 14-10 with 1:28 left on the clock.

Annapolis still had time on the clock but no time outs left.  With a series of a few short passes they moved into Falcon territory on the 30 when their chances finally expired and the Panthers came up short on a 4th down conversion.

Late 4th quarter heroics the last two games has really made this team fun to watch.  Severna Park heads back home to face a very good Meade Mustang team next Friday.  Come on out, support the Falcons, $5 gets you in the door and experience some of the excitement that has been occurring on the grid iron!
