Update: Hoops for the Cure Brought in Over 2K

Totals are in for Severna Park and Broadneck who played hard for this fundraiser to benefit the Annapolis Wellness House.

The   fundraiser on Feb. 12  brought the boys and girls junior and senior varsity basketball teams from Severna Park and Broadneck High Schools together for a day of competition. The rival schools made each community proud as they were playing to help raise funds and awareness for the Annapolis Wellness House, a nonprofit organization that supports families who are affected by cancer.

Severna Park High School raised $255 including online donations, while Broadneck raised $1,880 including online donations.  To reach that amount, Broadneck sold $43 T-shirts for $10 each at a 100 percent profit and over 310 cupcakes for $1.  Carnations were sold in school  bringing in $245.

The remainder of the donations was collected at the games by way of donation cans passed around by basketball players at halftimes of all four games.  "We can certainly build on this event in upcoming years.....this year was a good start," wrote Mary Beth Paganelli.
