1. Falcons Name Eric Milton New Baseball Coach
Severna Park High School named former major league pitcher Eric Milton as their new baseball coach. Milton was a first-round draft pick to the New York Yankees in 1996 and played 11 seasons in the majors.

2. Severna Park Elementary Celebrates 160 Years
Severna Park Elementary students, teachers and administrators, past and present, gathered at the school on Monday to celebrate its birthday. The school is marking the 75th year in its current building, and the 160th year it has been on the property. Local politicians, Anne Arundel County school district superintendent Kevin Maxwell and others, were also on-hand for the celebration. Check out a photo gallery here.

3. POLL: Have Recent Burglaries Changed Your Habits?
At the end of September, several cars were broken into in the Big Vanilla Arnold parking lot and a Severna Park home was burglarized. Furthermore, between Aug. 24-26 seven cars were broken into while they were parked in Severna Park neighborhoods. Have the recent home burglaries and car thefts forced you to change some of your habits? Vote in our poll.

Thanks to some solid defense, 10 kills from senior Mel Kapelewski, and 14 digs from sophomore Sophie Hoekstra, the Severna Park volleyball team (9-0) defeated Broadneck (4-3) in four games Tuesday night 25-11,17-25, 25-14, 25-23.

5. What’s Going On with the Old KFC?
A Chick-fil-A is set to fill the vacant KFC building, but it is still in the preliminary stages. Rosanne Zimmerman, with Anne Arundel County Planning and Zoning, said Chick-fil-A representatives are working to address concerns with Leelyn Drive.
