Are you an ambitious high schooler interested in a leading role in government?

More than 30 of Anne Arundel County's high school sophomores and juniors are being invited to compete for the chance to be the heads of Anne Arundel County for a day.

County Executive Laura Neuman announced the Student Model Government Program contest Wednesday, where students can compete for a chance to be executive, County Councilperson, Police Chief or Department Head for a day.

"The Student Model Government Program offers our students a first-hand opportunity to see how their government works and the many issues and decisions that are dealt with on a daily basis," Neuman said. "Students participating in this program will hopefully get a better appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our County’s employees and perhaps become motivated to serve their communities as a future civic leader."
