SP Field Hockey Takes National Title

A team of girls under 19 took top honors in a national tournament over the weekend.

Severna Park's girls field hockey club recently swept the National Indoor Tournament, ranking in the top 10 of the best teams in the nation.

Severna Park's girls under-19 team is one of the oldest and most prestigious field hockey clubs in Maryland. On March 1, the club's blue team continued that legacy by seizing first place in their pool in the the US Field Hockey Association's national tournament, according to Carol Pohlmeyer, who sits on the team's board of directors.

The team consists of players from Severna Park High School, Annapolis High School, Archbishop Spalding, River Hill High School and the Academy of Holy Cross. The team was coached by former Olympic field hockey player Carissa Hyman.
