Soccer: Falcons Head to State Semis Saturday

The Severna Park High School boys soccer team will play Northwestern in the state semifinals on Saturday.

The Severna Park High School boys soccer teams needs just one more win to earn a spot in the Class 4A state championship game.

The Falcons will play Prince George’s County team Northwestern in the state semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville. A victory in that game will put the team in the state championship game.

Severna Park finished the regular season with an undefeated record but fell to North County in the County Championship. The Falcons enter Saturday’s game with a record of 17-1.

After earning a No. 1 seed and a first-round bye, Severna Park defeated Broadneck and South River 1-0 to advance to regional championship game, and then topped Old Mill 3-0 to advance to the state semis.

If Severna Park defeats Northwestern (12-2) on Saturday, the team will play in the state championship game against the winner of the match between Thomas Wootton and Perry Hall. The championship match will be held at UMBC sometime between Nov. 15 and 17.
