Severn School Names Severna Park Native Alumni Director

When Severna Park native Tyler Larkin graduated from Severn School in 2003, he knew the school would always be a part of his life. But now it’s his job to make sure the school stays in the lives of all Severn alumni.

Severn School recently named Larkin the school’s new alumni director. He will be taking over for longtime director Denise Tray Rosson, who announced her resignation earlier this year.

“I just want to continue the support the school already has and grow it more for people coming back to campus,” Larkin said, “There’s a ton of stuff going on here that if you’re not around the campus you don’t see.”

Previously, Larkin has served as Severn’s JV lacrosse coach, and has worked to organize alumni networking events in the past.

While Larkin said he can’t name one specific memory from his years at Severn School that stands out, he said the overall experience helped prepare him for his new job.

“It’s the sense of community you get when you go to Severn,” Larkin said. “Being a smaller private school, the classes are really small and you get to know your teachers and your classmates. Everyone really cares about each other—that’s part of the reason I came back.”

Before coming back to Severn, Larkin worked as a sales manager with ARINC Direct in Annapolis. He said he is very glad to be back in Severna Park.

“It’s a close-knit community and everyone really supports everyone else—not just in Severn but in the community of Severna Park,” Larkin said. “Severna Park and Severn is tied together in so many ways. It’s great to see people come back to the community.”
