School Snow Days Dry Up During Winter Storm

Snow disrupted Anne Arundel County school activities and used up the last built-in snow day for the year.

With Wednesday's school cancellation, Anne Arundel County Public Schools have used their last built-in snow day.

Each year, the school system sets aside a few days for potential inclement weather closings. This year, schools were allotted four. But by Wednesday, all four had been used: Dec. 11, Jan. 3Jan. 21 and Jan. 22.

Any future snow days taken will extend the school year.

The cancellations this week also disrupted the Board of Education meeting, and the exam schedule at all Anne Arundel County high schools. The new exam schedule will be as follows:

  • Thursday, Jan. 23: A Day, periods 1 and 2
  • Friday, Jan. 24: B Day, periods 1 and 2
  • Monday, Jan. 27: A Day, periods 3 and 4
  • Tuesday, Jan. 28: B Day, periods 3 and 4
The snow days disrupted two scheduled days off at the end of the semester. That break will now be on Jan. 29-30, unless the bad weather continues, according to a release sent Wednesday.
