Rivals Clash: Several SPHS Sports Face Broadneck Tuesday

The boys and girls soccer teams, along with field hockey and volleyball will face Broadneck on Tuesday.

Rivals are set to face off as Severna Park High School’s field hockey, volleyball and girls and boys soccer teams prepare to face Broadneck on Tuesday afternoon and evening.

The varsity volleyball team heads into Tuesday night’s matchup with an undefeated record at stake. A few weeks ago, junior Natalie Coverse said the Broadneck game is one of the team’s most highly anticipated matchups.

“Well it is our rival so every team in the school wants to beat them,” she said. “They are one of our biggest competitors and always are.”

The volleyball team will play Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Severna Park High School.

Meanwhile, Broadneck handed the Falcon field hockey team its first loss of the season on Sept. 4. Severna Park fell to the Bruins 2-1 and coach Ann Andrews said the team struggled on offensive penalty corners during the matchup.

Severna Park field hockey lost to South River last Tuesday and will surely want to avoid another loss Tuesday night.

The field hockey team will play Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Broadneck.

The boys and girls soccer teams will also face the Bruins on Tuesday. Game time for the boys is set for 5 p.m. at Severna Park High. The girls will follow at 7 p.m.
