Q&A: Rock 'n' Roll Revival's Austin Heemstra

The Severna Park High senior appears in seven songs during Rock 'n' Roll Revival.

Rock 'n' Roll Revival XXIV at Severna Park High School kicked off March 1 to rave reviews and created all sorts of musical excitement around the school. 

Patch stopped by a dress rehearsal to talk with a few members of the cast about the show, what made them want to join, and why Rock 'n' Roll is so popular at SPHS.

Severna Park Patch: What is your favorite song in the production?
Austin Heemstra: “
Come on Eileen”– it’s my song so I kind of have to like it

Severna Park Patch: Why should people come see the show?
Heemstra:
The best part is just the performances. It is very fun to watch everyone dance and sing and create all these songs from the past.

Severna Park Patch: What else do you do at school besides Rock ‘n’ Roll?
Heemstra
: I was in Les Mis. And I am making a movie with a bunch of people from high school about Beowulf. I read a page in a book of Beowulf and didn't like it so I decided to make a movie out of it.

Severna Park Patch: Why did you want to be in Rock ‘n’ Roll Revival?
Heemstra
: I have been in it since I was a freshman and it is so much fun. It is nice to meet new people

Severna Park Patch: What are your plans for next year?
Heemstra
: DePaul University and I am going into digital cinema, which is like film but film is out of date now so they call it digital cinema.

Rock 'n' Roll Revival will continue to run March 8-10 and March 15-16; however, all performances are sold out.
