New Athletic Director Named for Severna Park High

David W. Lanham II -- athletic director at Meade High School -- has been named the new athletic director at Severna Park High School.

From a news release:

David W. Lanham II has been named the new athletic director at Severna Park High School for the 2014-15 school year.

Lanham has been very successful in serving as athletic director for the past 12 years at Meade High School and St. Mary’s High School, along with experience as assistant athletic director at Archbishop Spalding four years prior. He also has coaching experience as head baseball coach at Meade, St. Mary’s and Archbishop Spalding, winning two championships during his coaching tenure.

Lanham, a Certified Master Athletic Director and P.E./health teacher, has earned his master’s degree in athletic leadership and administration at Goucher 
College and his bachelor’s degree in physical education and health from 
Pfeiffer University in North Carolina.

He was 2014 Super 22 Athletic Administrator of the Year, 2008 District 11 AD of the Year, and Baltimore Sun Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2007.

Lanham currently is a member of the Athletic Legislative Committee. His passion for athletics and expertise with overseeing athletic programs are exemplified through the latter, said Severna Park Principal Brian Bathras in the news release.

Lanham is replacing Wayne Mook, who served 20 years as SPHS athletic director.

"We wish Mr. Mook well in his retirement, for he has a done a glorious job in 
supervising athletics over the years. We thank Mr. Mook for his dedication 
and service to the Severna Park community," Bathras said.
