Marine Corps League Veterans Visit Oak Hill Elementary School

A special presentation on Veterans Day shares the history of war items, war rations, military vehicles and devices from World War I through modern times.

A history lesson not found in textbooks came to fourth- and fifth-graders at on Veterans Day. World War I items, including a military jeep, replicas of ships, vehicles and equipment used in war time to present day, were shared by Ray Gonzalez, Woody Bowman and Paul Downey—all members of the Marine Corps League Detachment 1049.

The group also brought displays to share showing food rations, communication equipment and other military gear. Additionally, many of the kids wrote letters to veterans as part of the day's exercise.
