Local Students Make College News

Here's a roundup of students who have recently enrolled, graduated, earned a scholarship or a spot on the dean's list at their respective colleges.

Patch often gets word of how some local students are doing in their studies at college, including recent graduations. Many of the names and specific details were provided to Patch by the readMedia Newswire Service, which collects data from schools. Others are submitted by parents of students.

Frostburg State University

  • Joshua Mooney received the Talent in the Arts Scholarship IV from Frostburg State University. Mooney is the son of Kevin and Tracey Mooney and attended Severna Park High School.

Recent graduates

Virginia Tech

  • John Coe, Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering in mechanical engineering from the College of Engineering.
  • Karen Meidenbauer, Bachelor of Science degree cum laude in biological sciences from the College of Science.
  • Benjamin Sammon, Bachelor of Science degree in building construction from the College of Architecture and Urban Studies.

Enrollment

  • Severna Park resident Jennifer Judd has enrolled at James Madison University for the fall 2012 semester. Judd plans on majoring in theatre and dance.
