Colleges Announce Local Graduates, Dean's List

Patch often gets word of how some local students are doing in their studies at college, including recent graduations. Congratulations to these Frostburg State University graduates.

At the 139th commencement ceremonies at Frostburg State University in December, the following area residents were among the nearly 430 total candidates for degrees:

Cara Hudson of Severna Park earned a Bachelor of Science degree in recreation and parks management.

Tyler Jamison of Severna Park earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.

Susanne Truver of Severna Park earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology.

What follows is a list of students who have made the dean's list for the fall 2011 semester at their colleges based on their high-scoring GPAs.

Emory University—Dean's List

Melrose Huang, of Severna Park and the daughter of Peng Huang and Xiaoling Chen, was named to the honor list of Oxford College, the two-year liberal arts division of Emory University located in Oxford, GA, for the 2011 fall semester.

Virginia Tech—Dean's List

John W. Coe, of Millersville, is studying mechanical engineering.

Christopher W. Hayes, of Millersville, is studying civil engineering.

Ian M. Hornick, of Millersville, is studying mechanical engineering.

Matthew L. Kubic, of Millersville, is studying engineering.

Karly L. Lawler, of Millersville, is studying marketing management.

Frederick A. Lohn, of Millersville, is studying university studies.

Joshua D. Gates, of Severna Park, is studying computer engineering.

Christian M. Reid, of Severna Park, is studying mechanical engineering.
