Last Chance: Vertical Horizon’s Matt Scannell at Severn School

Tickets to the event are sold out, but there will be an opportunity for walk-up seats.

Severn School will host a concert with Vertical Horizon’s founding member Matt Scannell Friday night as part of its launch of the Dillon Moran Musician in Residence Program.

Tickets for the event are sold out, but there will be an opportunity for walk-up seating. Severn School Director of Communications Kristyn Kuhn said they have had some cancellations and will allow additional people into the concert on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Kuhn recommends that those without a ticket arrive to the school around 6 p.m. They will enter through a different door and be admitted based on arrival time.

“I have received emails about cancellations so I know there are going to be open seats. You just have to get here early,” Kuhn said.

Scannell’s performance is the inaugural concert for the Dillon Moran Musician in Residence Program.

The program was created to commemorate the passion, exuberance and solid musicianship exemplified by Dillon Moran of the Severn School's Class of 2013. Dillon’s life was tragically cut short in the fall of 2011 as the result of an accident at his home in Davidsonville.

Kuhn said Scannell has been conducting workshops with students on song writing, the music industry and more. She also said he has been rehearsing throughout the day.

“He was here [Thursday] performing and he is so amazing,” she said. “The whole thing is really a great program and a great tribute.”

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday at Severn School.
